JOANNA KOS KRAUZE

Polish Documentary Competition juror.

Born 1972, filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. Co-creator of award-winning films Papusza, Plac Zbawiciela and My Nikifor. President of the Directors’ Guild of Poland trade union between 2013-2018, currently serving as vice President of the Guild. Chairwoman of the Polish Screenwriters’ Section (2006-2013), member of the Art Council at Andrzej Munk Film Studio as well as the Polish and European Film Academies. Expert at the Polish Film Institute, Silesia Film Fund, Gdynia Film Fund and Euroimage in Strasbourg. Her most recent film Birds Are Singing in Kigali / Ptaki śpiewają w Kigali garnered awards at dozens of festivals worldwide including Karlove Vary (Best Actress - Jowita Budnik i Eliane Umuhire), Chicago (Best Director, Best Actress - Jowita Budnik i Eliane Umuhire), Locarno (First Look Award), Luxembourg (Grand Prix), Calcutta, Istanbul, the Crimea, Gdynia (Silver Lions, Best Actress - Jowita Budnik i Eliane Umuhire, Best Editing).
