OKI DOKI Documentary Academy: screening of the “Stereotypes: People Like Us” block of films ASHO, dir. Jafar Najafi and a discussion
CHILDREN (ages 9 and up) AND THEIR GUARDIANS
Language: Polish
What do children dream about in other parts of the world? Does being a boy come with obligations? Is having friends who are unlike us worth the effort? We will discuss these topics after the screening of “Asho”: a warm and funny Iranian film. Documentary screenings are an important window to the world for their youngest viewers, evoking surprise, wonder, and sometimes protest. The OKI DOKI Documentary Academy lets us care for these reactions and let them happen in a way that allows children to learn empathy, tolerance, and more information about the world and themselves.
