Discussion: Film therapy that makes sense following the screening of ROMANTIC COMEDY, dir. Elizabeth Sankey

Language: Polish

“Romantic Comedy” is a patchwork assemblage of scenes from the most popular romcoms overlaid with a critical analysis of the genre. The director exposes the assumptions, stereotypes, and limitations of the genre while trying to understand its depiction of love and influence on her life. The discussion after the screening will examine a number of questions: what causes the huge popularity of romantic comedies? Are they simply innocent guilty pleasures? Do they influence our expectations of romance in relationship, or do they simply portray it?
