The jury gave the Award of the President of the City of Gdynia and its accompanying PLN 15 000 to “Honeyland” by Lyubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska. The “Co Jest Grane 24” Readers’ Award went to “#Female Pleasure”.
During the Gdynia edition of the 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, the jury consisting of: Natalia Fiedorczuk-Cieślak – writer and composer, Jerzy Gados – director and film scholar, Olo Walicki – bass player and composer, decided to give the Award of the President of the City of Gdynia and its accompanying PLN 15 000 to Tamara Kotevska and Lyubomir Stefanov, the directors of “Honeyland”.
The jury gave the award to “a film whose protagonists guide the audience through a universal conflict with incredible harmony. For extraordinary cohesion and artistic reach. For confronting us with the most important relationships in our life – those with nature, family, and our fellow man”.
“Honeyland” is the favorite of this year’s Millennium Docs Against Gravity. The film has previously received the festival’s top honor – the Bank Millennium Award, as well as the Silesian Grand Prix, and the Bydgoszcz ART.DOC Award.
The jury also awarded a Special Mention: “One of the most important functions of cinema is to allay our suspicions and then draw us completely into the story. A gripping film with a strong directorial fingerprint, provocative, stunning, and brazenly ostentatious – that is Mads Brüger’s “Cold Case Hammarskjöld”.
