Let’s meet at the CINEMA!
Gdynia FILM CENTRE
The best movies from Poland and abroad; exhibitions; discussions with artists; film workshops for cinema enthusiasts both young and older… Everything’s right here: the Gdynia Film Centre, opened in 2015, is a cultural meeting place in the heart of Gdynia, providing top-tier film education, culture, and entertainment to locals and tourists alike.
The Gdynia Film Centre is situated a few hundred meters from the downtown beach. Artistic events—outdoor film screenings, concerts, and meetings—also take place on the grassy Grunwaldzki Square. A funicular railway connects the square to the observation deck on Kamienna Góra. GFC serves both amateur and professional filmmakers: it houses the Gdynia Film School with its Department of Directing. Every autumn it becomes the site of the biggest celebration of Polish cinema—the Polish Feature Film Festival.
The GFC movie theater, Cinema Studio, has three screening rooms named after the old, defunct cinemas of Gdynia. The largest, Warszawa, seats 277. The two cozier screening rooms, Goplana and Morskie Oko, seat 96 and 50 respectively. All are equipped with 4K projectors and 7.1 sound. The GFC Cinema Studio collaborates with the Arthouse Cinemas Network and with Europe Cinemas.
The Gdynia Film Centre also houses the GCF Gallery, showcasing the works of emerging artists as well as acclaimed stalwarts of art and cinema, the Winylownia.pl record store, and two eateries—FaBuła cafe and Vertigo restaurant.
