Meeting with producers Karolina Galuba and Małgorzata Małysa following the screening of TONY HALIK

Language: Polish

He knew everyone, he filmed everyone, everybody wanted to talk to him: Fidel Castro, Queen Elizabeth II, Evita Peron, Richard Nixon… TONY HALIK is the story of a man who crafted his own legend so carefully that we still don’t know what was and wasn’t true. The movie was based on unpublished footage from the private archives of Tony Halik and Elżbieta Dzikowska, as well as an extensive interview with the traveler’s son. It’s a tale about one man’s passion for travel and the price he had to pay to make his dreams come true.

Guests:

Karolina Galuba — university-educated translator and PR professional, longtime producer with German TV broadcaster ARD/ZDF. Co-chairs the FURIA Film production company with Małgorzata Małysa since 2015. Their first self-produced film premiered at the Berlinale, the second is co-produced by HBO, and the third—the “Tony Halik” documentary project—yielded them an invitation to Locarno.

Małgorzata Małysa — graduate of the Wajda School and experienced producer. Co-chairs FURIA Film with Karolina Galuba.

Moderator:

Agnieszka Maciejewska — longtime journalist with Radio Merkury, graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Cinema was her beat and she covered all of its aspects—from reviewing movies in video rental stores to covering major film festivals. Maciejewska collaborates with indie cinemas in Poznań as well as with numerous cultural institutions. A voracious watcher, which leaves her less time for reading; her holidays are filled with hard work sailing the seas.
