During the special festival edition of the KinoUkraїna cycle, we will discuss war as depicted in the acclaimed documentary “The Earth Is Blue as an Orange”, as well as “The Length of the Day”—a novel by Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Rafeenko, who was forced to leave his home city of Donetsk at the start of the war. The Polish translators of “The Length of the Day” will explain what makes it one of the most important statements about the conflict raging in Eastern Ukraine.

Marcin Gaczkowski—literature scholar, historian, editor, lecturer at the University of Wrocław. Translator of Russian and Ukrainian literature, co-founder of the Rozstaje.art literary portal, member of the Polish Literary Translators Association.

Anna Ursulenko—Slavic studies scholar, Adjunct of the Slavic Philology department at the University of Wrocław. Translator of Ukrainian, Russian, and Czech literature. Curator of the KinoUkraїna film cycle, which brings contemporary Ukrainian films to the DCF.
