Discussion with master Jan Grarup

Saturday, September 5 | 2:30 pm | Pałac Kultury i Nauki, Starzyński room

Jan Grarup's masterclass will be held on September 5 in Pałac Kultury i Nauki. The event will be open to ticket holders from the preceding film screening. The screening will start at 12:30 on September 5 in the Kinoteka cinema and the masterclass will begin afterwards at 14:30 in Pałac Kultury i Nauki.

an Grarup has been photographing some of the most dramatic conflicts and global tragedies for more than 25 years. He witnessed the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur, photographed both sides of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, captured the horrifying aftermath of earthquakes in Kashmir or Haiti... Grarup is the recipient of many press and photography awards, including 8 World Press Photo awards, as well as numerous accolades from NGOs.

However, the works of Jan Grarup aren’t solely focused on suffering and cruelty—they show the incredible resilience of human nature, the tenderness and intimacy of interpersonal relations (even in the face of tragedy), and the hope of saving the future. This duality of humanity will be reflected in “Our Daily Genocides”, a new exhibition created for the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival.

Jan Grarup will meet with the audience on September 3 in the Iluzjon cinema at the opening night and exhibition launch.
